Two injured in Marcellus crash

Two people were injured as the result of an accident in the village of Marcellus Tuesday afternoon.

Cass County Sheriff Richard Behnke said deputies were called shortly after 4:30 p.m. to the intersection of Main and Centre streets.

Investigators said Muriel Oswalt, 29, of Marcellus, was driving east on Main Street when she struck a vehicle driven by 69-year-old David Reigle of Vandalia. Authorities said Reigle failed to yield when turning from Centre onto Main.

Oswalt’s vehicle went off the roadway and onto a sidewalk. Reigle’s vehicle traveled south of the roadway and through a brick sign.

They were both transported to Bronson Lakeview for non-life threatening injuries.

Seatbelts were worn and neither alcohol nor drugs appear to be factors in the incident.
