Carol Ann Riggs, age 63, of Marcellus, passed away at her home after a long illness surrounded by family on Monday, September 3rd, 2018.
Carol was born December 25th, 1954, in Niles, the daughter of James and Katherine (Owen) Lamb. She had two brothers who preceded her in death: James Lamb and Larry (Barb) Lamb along with her parents and her husband Charles Riggs.
On June 30th, 1973, Carol married the love of her life Charles Thomas (Chuck) Riggs of Marcellus. Together they had two wonderful children: Heather (Jeremy) Miller and Corey (Brooke) Riggs that they loved dearly and 5 loving grandchildren. Carol’s main purpose in life was being a mother and Nana always putting her family first. She was a friend to many and even though she was seriously suffering from Lupus and many other illnesses, she put others needs first.
Carol served on the Marcellus Fire Department where she was one of the first women volunteer firefighters for 13 years. She was also a member of the Marcellus V.F.W. Post No 4054 ladies Auxiliary.
She was a true example of strength and courage, nothing seemed to get her down and her positive attitude was an encouragement to all who knew her. She often said “my kids and grand kids are the reason I am living”. This was true until the end. She was a brave and loving woman with a huge smile that touched many lives and will be missed greatly by her family and friends.
Surviving members of this loving family are daughter Heather (Jeremy) Miller, Corey (Brooke) Riggs both of Marcellus, 5 Grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews. Sister Joyce (David) Gearhart, Sister in law Barbara Lamb (Larry) of Buchanan.
Also surviving is her loving extended family that includes her Mother-in-law, Marlene Riggs, Dan (Nannette) Riggs and Dawn (Les) Melville.
