St. Joseph County road commissioners have announced that construction on Constantine Road, between Fairchild and Roys roads, is scheduled to begin next week, weather permitting.
The work, slated to start Oct. 4, will not be affected by the defensive lockout of Operating Engineers, Local 324 employees that was initiated by several Michigan Infrastructure and Transportation Association contractors.
One of the asphalt contractors that was affected had bid on some road commission projects.
The bids were close to those of the selected contractor, but the Centreville-based agency dodged a bullet, managing director Chris Minger said.
