Ella (Brabec) Lamphere, age 92, of Mendon, died Monday, Sept. 24, 2018 at the Three Rivers Health Emergency Room. She was born in Chicago on Nov. 25, 1925 and attended schools there. She was married to Rolly Arthur Lamphere in Chicago on Dec. 20, 1941. Ella worked for Delco Radio in Chicago. After moving to Mendon in 1949 she worked at G-W Pizza and was the proprietor of Che-Mok-Mans Resort at Portage Lake. She enjoyed sewing, ceramics, and tending to her gardens.
Ella is survived by her son and daughter in law, Rolly J. and Judy Lamphere of Centreville; four grandchildren, Wendy Miller of Colon, Wade Lamphere of Kalamazoo, Kristy Fielden of Union City, and Stacey Lamphere of Three Rivers; five great-grandchildren, Brady Strayer, Justin Miller, Lindsey Miller, Zander Fielden, and Kiera Fielden; and by her extended family, Joshua and Beth Velie and their children Emma and Alex, and by Lucas Velie. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rolly A. in 2015; and by eleven brothers and sisters.
The family will receive friends from 9 to 11 am Saturday, Sept. 29, 2018 at the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon. Funeral services will begin at 11 am Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. David Farrell officiating. Burial will be in Dutton Cemetery. It is suggested that Memorials be directed to the Mendon Fire Department.
