Mary Stroop, 76

Mary K. Stroop, age 76, of Howe, Ind., died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2018, at Life Care Center of LaGrange.
She was born Dec. 12, 1941, in Sturgis, to the late Joseph P. and Marqurette M. (Darr) Babka.
Mary worked as an operating room nurse for many years at Sturgis Hospital and attended Holy Angels Catholic Church in Sturgis.
On March 20, 1970, she married Roger N. Stroop in Sturgis. He preceded her in death Aug. 23, 2002.
Surviving Mary are her five children, two daughters, Ann Marie (Brad) Zook of Howe and Emmy Lou Stroop of New Paris, Ind., three sons, Andrew (Rachel) Stroop of LaGrange, Jason (Tonya) Stroop of Angola, Ind., and Jacob Stroop (Candida Hamilton) of Angola; and nine grandchildren, Katelyn Bieberich, Alyssa Dines, Ellie Dines, Rebeka Stroop, Elizabeth Stroop, Justin Stroop, Chloe Stroop, Kayla Stroop and Ashley Stroop.
Mary had a sister, Julia Anselmo, and a brother, William Babka, who preceded her in death.
According to her wishes, cremation has taken place.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10, 2018, at Frurip-May Funeral Home, 309 W. Michigan St., LaGrange, Ind.
Memorials may be donated in Mary’s memory to Orland Fire and Rescue.
