Michael A. Parlin, age 79, of Centreville, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2018, at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo.
Mike was born May 19, 1939, in Battle Creek, a son of the late Aaron and Maurine (Simpson) Parlin.
Mike grew up in Athens, graduating from Athens High School in 1957, and later moved to Centreville.
On May 19, 1972, he married Shirley A. Hovis in Wayne County. She preceded him in death Nov. 26, 2015.
Mike had worked at Coachman Industries in Centreville, Rood Industries in Sturgis and later farmed until his retirement in 2005.
Mike had been a member of St. Joseph County Conservation Club, where he did a lot of trap and skeet shooting. He also was an avid hunter.
He is survived by three daughters, Carol Parlin of Chicago, Anita Riegle of Battle Creek and Susan (James) Luplow of Spring Arbor; two sons, Ronald Parlin of Fulton and Scott Parlin of Centreville; five grandchildren; a brother, Gordon L. Parlin of Battle Creek; a sister-in-law, Sharon Regnier; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Phillip Parlin; and a son-in-law, Paul A. Riegle.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Schipper Funeral Home in Colon. A funeral service celebrating the life of Michael A. Parlin will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2018, at the funeral home, with the Rev. David J. Farrell officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeside Cemetery in Colon.
If desired, the family suggests memorials be made either to Cheff Therapeutic Riding Center or St. Joseph County Conservation Club. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
