A 19-year-old Sturgis man was arrested following a domestic-assault incident earlier this week in Sturgis.
Officers were called at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday to the 200 block of Susan Avenue in response to a suspected burglary in progress. Officers arrived and noticed the suspect in the backyard of the residence.
He attempted to break the grip of the arresting officer but was unable to free himself, officers said. During their investigation, officers learned that the man had assaulted a woman inside the residence earlier in the afternoon.
The suspect was charged with resisting an officer, domestic violence and malicious destruction of property.
