Woman injured in Sturgis crash

A Sturgis woman was injured after the vehicle she was driving was struck by a semi Monday afternoon in Sturgis Township.

Sheriff’s officials said the incident occurred around 1 p.m. on U.S. 12 near Shimmel Road, where an eastbound semi swerved into the westbound lane of U.S. 12 in order to avoid a fire truck parked on the shoulder of the roadway.

A westbound Pontiac driven by a 33-year-old Sturgis woman was struck by the semi and its driver seriously injured.

The driver of the semi, a 43-year-old Allendale woman, was cited for improper lane use, according to authorities.
