Glen Oaks faculty concerned about contract negotiations

About 10 Glen Oaks Community College faculty members concerned about the state of contract negotiations attended last week’s meeting of the college’s board of trustees.

Ren Hartung, president of the faculty senate, said he does not have inside knowledge of what is happening within the negotiating team, although he has heard comments coming from that team.

Hartung said the college’s team has consistently stretched out the times between negotiating meetings to such a degree that it gives faculty the impression that the college’s team is purposely delaying the process.

There are 29 faculty members and none has received a raise, according to faculty member Chad Worthington. He suggested the board put a stop to administrators’ raises until a contract is settled.
