Local teams make it to playoffs

Pairings for the Michigan High School Athletic Association’s football playoffs were announced Sunday, and seven area teams made it to the post season.

In division 4, Three Rivers will host Paw Paw in a tough matchup of Wolverine Conference opponents. The 8-1 Wildcats shut out the 7-2 Redskins in Week 5, 26-0.

Meanwhile, in Division 6, Constantine gets another shot at Schoolcraft, as the Falcons will travel to take on the Eagles. Constantine, 6-3, lost to the 7-2 Eagles in Week 6, 63-27 in a Southwestern Athletic Conference game.

In District 7, Centreville, for the first time in its history, will host a playoff game. The 8-1 Bulldogs will take on 6-3 Union City, marking just the third time the teams have ever faced each other.

And in District 8, Mendon squeaked in the playoffs with a 5-4 record. The Hornets will travel to White Pigeon to battle the 7-2 Chiefs.

In 8-man football, Colon will put its 8-1 record on the line against 5-4 Camden-Frontier. The Magi won a matchup between the two teams earlier this season, by a score of 51-0.

All playoff games are scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday.
