Police investigate purse theft

State police are investigating the theft of a purse and use of stolen credit cards.

According to a department media release, troopers were called around 1 p.m. Sept. 16 to the Withers Road bridge at the St. Joseph River in Constantine Township. The victim told police she parked her car alongside the road, and then went for a kayak ride. When she returned to her vehicle, one of its windows was smashed out and her purse taken.

In the hours after the incident was reported, a credit card was used at businesses in Three Rivers, White Pigeon and locations throughout Cass County.

Based on the activity from the cards, police were able to obtain video and images of the suspects.
