Ruth Kore, 86

Ruth Kore, born in Valmiera, Latvia on April 12, 1932 died in Three Rivers, on Friday, October 19, 2018.

She is survived by her sister Anna Iveiss (Uldis) and by her sons Michael (Vita) and Erik (Mara) and by daughter Anda Brenholt. A grandmother to 10, she is lovingly remembered by Silvija, Alvis, Mara, Lukas, Krista, Samuel, Katrina, Amanda, David, and Rebeka.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Valentins. Before settling in Three Rivers, the two raised their children in Milwaukee, WI.

Ruth was a skilled gardener and master weaver who specialized in Latvian ethnographic textiles. She travelled extensively, both domestically and abroad and regularly attended the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra. A bridge player and Packers fan, she was well known for sharing her green Chartreuse from the corner cabinet.

Her welcoming spirit was infectious and cherished by scores of friends and appreciated by the many Latvian youth who visited. She is sorely missed.

In accordance with the family’s wishes cremation has taken place and a Memorial service will be held on November 2, 2018 at the Latvian Evangelical Lutheran Church of Kalamazoo.

Interment will be held at Riverside Cemetery of Kalamazoo following the service.
