Deb Providakes, age 59, of Sturgis, passed away Sunday, Nov. 4, 2018, at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo.
She was born March 26, 1959, in Springfield, Mass., a daughter of the late Anthony F. and Barbara (Chaffee) Marino.
On Oct. 29, 1977, she married Bill F. Providakes in Springfield.
Deb was a florist for more than 40 years and was best-known for her love of Halloween and portraying herself as “Wanda the Witch” for more than 30 years on Halloween night on Electric Court in Sturgis. She enjoyed people and loved spending time with and shopping for her grandchildren.
Surviving are her husband, Bill, of Sturgis; a son, Bryan (Heather) Providakes of Sturgis; two daughters, Mary Providakes and Cory Kotz, both of Sturgis, and Amanda Providakes and Tommie Walls, both of Westland; five grandchildren, McKenna, Sophia, Dominic, Benjamin and Damian; and a sister, Barbara Jean Marino of Massachusetts.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Anthony, in 2015; and a sister, Kathryn Marino.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, 2018, at Rosenberg Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 807 E. Chicago Road, Sturgis.
According to her wishes, cremation will follow visitation. Memorial donations in her memory may be directed to the family or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital . Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
