Elijah Hamilton, 21

Elijah Jawan Hamilton, age 21, passed away on Friday, November 2, 2018 in Three Rivers. He was born on November 15, 1996 in Sturgis, the son of Kevin and Ericka (Wright) Hamilton.

He was a graduate of Three Rivers High School Class of 2015.  In high school, Elijah participated in basketball, student council, TRAM (Three Rivers Area Mentoring), and was the Vice President of the graduating class of 2015. Elijah played for the travel basketball teams, ACB Bank Hoops and Elite Skills. Later, he was an assistant coach for Elite Skills. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, hanging with friends, and collecting/working on his antique muscle cars. After high school, Elijah attended Glen Oaks Community College. While at Glen Oaks, he was a member of the basketball team as number 44, worked in the fitness center, and began to grow a passion for weightlifting. From there, he transferred to Western Michigan University majoring in Sports Management and minoring in Marketing. During his junior year at Western, he developed a clothing brand called ‘Hammer Apparel’. He started marketing his brand through his many friends, family, and social media. Recently, he created an online store with Triple Creek Shirts and More, in Three Rivers. Because he has always wanted to help people through his positive messages and words, in January of 2018, he created a YouTube channel under ‘Hammer Apparel’. His goal was to inspire and encourage whoever was in need of an uplifting message.

Elijah was preceded in his passing by his Great-grandfather: Ralph Humes Sr. and his Grandfather: Frank Wright Jr.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory his parents: Kevin and Ericka (Wright) Hamilton; sister: Amaya Hamilton; grandparents: LouElla Hamilton, Jacie Hamilton, and Barbara Humes; great-grandma: Geraldine Humes; and uncles: Jeff (Tiffany) Wright, Frank Wright, and Peter (Zolona) Hamilton.

In accordance with the family’s wishes funeral services will take place at Bethel Baptist Church, 17852 S. River Rd, Three Rivers, on Saturday, November 10, 2018 with visitation hours from 11 a.m. until the time of service beginning at 1 p.m. with Pastor Tony Bennett, Rev. LaChanuj Shelton, and Pastor Gordon Adair officiating.

Interment will take place following the service at Riverside Cemetery of Three Rivers.

Memorials made in Elijah’s memory may be made payable to American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP). Envelopes will be available at Hohner Funeral Home and Bethel Baptist Church. Online condolences may be left at www.hohnerfh.com.
