Happy Manning, 80

Fayrae “Happy” Manning, age 80, of White Pigeon, passed away unexpectedly Friday morning, Oct. 5, 2018, at her home.
She was born May 14, 1938, in Chicago, a daughter of the late Raymond and Evelyn Hinch.
Happy resided in White Pigeon for the past 13 years, coming from Harvard, Ill., where she lived for 20 years. She also had lived in Blue Island, Ill., and her early life was spent in Chicago.
She was first married to Don Soucek. This marriage ended in divorce. Ten years after her divorce, on Feb. 2, 1972, she married Roy Manning at First Presbyterian Church in Beverly, Ill.
Happy had worked as a waitress for many years and also as a secretary at a pharmacy and she was a dedicated homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother.
She enjoyed the two terms she served as president of Lake Wah bememe Association, and cooking. Happy had a true love for her many dogs and cats and loved time at the lake.
She is survived by her loving and dedicated husband of 46 years, Roy; two sons, Ted Soucek of Three Rivers and Mark (Rebecca) Soucek of Akron, Ohio; a stepdaughter, Dina Manning of San Diego; three grandchildren, Alvaro Soucek, Eva Soucek and Carl Soucek; a sister, Joy Mlady of Plainfield, Ill.; a stepbrother, Raymond Hinch of Cleveland; cousins Joan Rogers of Illinois, Jim Hinch of Florida, Ed Hinch of Arizona and Nancy Hinch of California; and several nieces and nephews.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service celebrating the life of Fayrae “Happy” Manning will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2018, at First Presbyterian Church in Sturgis. The Rev. Michael Wicks will officiate. Private placement of the ashes will take place at First Presbyterian Columbarium.
The Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis, is entrusted with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital , 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
