Heidi Pyke, 54

Heidi Sue Pyke, age 54, of Sturgis, passed away Tuesday evening, Nov.6, 2018, at her home.
She was born Dec. 15, 1963, in Champaign, Ill., a daughter of Gary and Carol (VanZile) Jones.
Heidi resided most of her life in Sturgis and was a graduate of Sturgis High School with the class of 1982.
On April 11, 1998. she married Eugene Pyke in Sturgis.
Heidi owned and operated, with her husband, several ice cream parlors and Sawdust and Splinters Creations. She also had been employed by Walmart and worked with her parents at C.J.’s Western Wear, both in Sturgis.
Heidi was a talented artist who could do most anything she set her mind to. She loved crafts, woodworking and scrapbooking and relived many great memories of her trip to Europe with the chatty choir.
She is survived by her loving and dedicated husband of 20 years, Eugene; her parents, Gary and Carol Jones of North Port, Fla.; a daughter, Mandi Pyke of Sturgis; a brother, Gary (Sandra) Jones of Sturgis; nieces and nephews Eberle, Brittaney, Tristan, Timothy, Adam and Alissa; 15 great-nieces and great-nephews, all who she loved equally; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, Brandon Lee Smoker; and her grandparents.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis. Funeral services celebrating Heidi’s life will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Jim Pearson of First Baptist Church in Sturgis will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at the Nottawa Cemetery in Nottawa.
The family suggests those wishing to make a memorial donation in Heidi’s memory consider First Baptist Church, 1050 E. Fawn River Road, Sturgis, MI 49091; or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital , 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
