Mendon Schools receive donation for robotics teams

A donation from renewable energy company Geronimo Energy is helping launch Mendon Community Schools’ 2018 robotics teams. The company announced last week its donation of $1,000 to the Mendon Foundation, which will help fund two robotics teams for Mendon Middle School.

Geronimo’s Dave Shiflett said the company is proud to help Mendon Community Schools enhance its STEM program by sponsoring the robotics teams. He said the experience will teach students valuable skills and help foster a love for engineering, science and technology.

The two teams, the Metal Crushers and the Robo Rebels, are being coached by teachers John Cosby and Theresa Hawkins.

Geronimo is in the planning process for the White Pine Solar Project, a 20-megawatt solar farm that would span approximately 200 acres in Mendon Township.
