Robert Young, 85

Robert Michael Young, age 85, of Colon, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, Nov. 15, 2018, at his home.
Robert was born Nov. 5, 1933, in Harvey, Ill., a son of the late James and Mary (Boyle) Young.
On Oct. 15, 1966, he married Rose LaBanca in Harvey. She preceded him in death Oct. 12, 2013.
He had worked as a lab technician for Allis-Chalmers in Harvey for more than 30 years.
Robert had made his home in Colon on Palmer Lake since 2000, coming from St. Johns, Ind.
He was a member of St. Barbara’s Catholic Church in Colon. Robert loved time spent with his grandchildren, fishing and taking pontoon rides.
He is survived by a son, Michael (Bridget) Young of Orland Park, Ill.; a daughter, Sherry Baugh of Hebron, Ind.; six grandchildren, Aidan, Benjamin, Chase, Katherine, Dylan and Colin; and a brother, Charles Young of Homewood, Ill.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Catherine Panozzo.
In keeping with Robert’s wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will receive relatives and friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2018, at Schipper Funeral Home in Colon. A memorial service celebrating the life of Robert M. Young will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday, with Father Antony Rajesh officiating.
