Sturgis teaching award nominations sought

Here’s a reminder that Saturday is the deadline for nominations for the 2018-19 John E. Oster Award, which recognizes outstanding teaching and community service by a Sturgis Public Schools teacher.

The award is in honor of the late John Oster, a Sturgis attorney who placed high value on education and community service. This will be the 38th award given annually since the 1981-1982 academic year.

In addition to recognizing outstanding teaching, community service is an important component greatly considered in the selection process.

Sturgis School District residents interested in recommending a teacher for consideration may submit a nomination letter to Sturgis Public Schools at 107 W. West St., Sturgis, 49091. A nomination form is available online at: sturgisps.org.
