Centreville approves security bid

Members of the Centreville Public Schools Board of Education have approved a bid of nearly $30,000 for access control and physical security at the school district.

Unified Security Solutions’ bid came in $20,000 less than other bids; Superintendent Stephanie Lemmer said that technology personnel from the St. Joseph County Intermediate School District reviewed the bid and were very comfortable with it.

After work is completed this summer, staff will use their badges to access the building in which they work, allowing the district to document who is entering and exiting.

Lenel, the security technology being installed, is already in use both by area school districts and by the St. Joseph County Sheriff ’s Department.

The item will be paid through the district’s bond funds.
