The task of finding a new location for Colon’s village office continues to be a topic of discussion amongst municipal officials.
During last month’s council meeting, it was agreed that a committee to further research the issue be established and updates provided at the council’s subsequent monthly meetings.
The current double-wide has served as the village’s municipal headquarters for more than 40 years. Its needs are many and include a new furnace, storage space, an electrical overhaul and a new roof.
Locations around the community that the village has investigated have yielded a variety of roadblocks, from too expensive and too small, to a site where the basement is prone to flooding.
Finances will be a major factor in determining the village’s options, village president Carl Thornton said.
