Donald R. Hollister, age 87, of Bronson, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at his home.
He was born May 26, 1931, the son of Marxal Beryl and Loretta Irene (Walters) Hollister and lived his life in the Burr Oak and Bronson area.
On November 23, 1951, in Angola, he married Kathleen Elaine Reed and together they raised their family on the farm.
Donald was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Along with his love of family and farming, he enjoyed winters in Florida, horse/tractor pulls, going to the fair, card parties, and holiday gatherings at home. He was a member of the Burr Oak United Methodist Church and had been Burr Oak Granger in school days, FFA and 4-H member. A graduate of Bronson High School with the class of 1949.
Donald made friends easily, and kept them for life. A few ventures included traveling with a lunch wagon, owning The Parlour, The General Store and Colon Laundromat.
He is survived by five children: Kristine Clark of Sherwood, Richard (Paula), Randal (Marsha), Julie all of Bronson, Beth (Phillip) of Burr Oak; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren: twin sister: Dorothy (Hollister) Keller; Brother and Sister-in-law: Thomas (Donna) Reed; and a brother-in-law: Dick Schaeffer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 66 years, and infant son: Thomas Lee.
According to his wishes, cremation has taken place. A service celebrating the life of Donald will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, January 12, 2019 at the Burr Oak Missionary Church Fellowship Hall, 327 N. 3rd St., Burr Oak, MI 49030. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Rosenberg Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 807 E. Chicago Rd., Sturgis, MI 49091.
