Florence E. Oswald, age 89, a loving mother and a mighty prayer warrior, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus, at home surrounded by family and friends on Sunday, December 16, 2018. She was born on June 19, 1929 in Allegan, to Vinton and Hildred (Rothenberger) Cooley. She attended Bloomingdale schools and graduated from Three Rivers High School. Florence was married to Elmer C. Oswald on Oct. 7, 1953 in Angola. She was a member of the Three Rivers Bible Church, Bethany Chapel, and Charity Baptist Church. She was actively involved in many ministries and served with her husband as a Youth Leader for many years.
Florence survived by her children, Deb (Wendell) Westcomb of Three Rivers, Steve (Sue) Oswald of Rittman, OH, Shirley (Jim) MacGregor of Vicksburg, Frank (Michele) Oswald of Grand Rapids, John Oswald of Lansing, Dave (Julie) Oswald of Allendale, and Sharon Furey of Three Rivers; twenty nine grandchildren; forty seven great-grandchildren; two sisters in law, June Cooley and Joyce Cooley; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Chuck Oswald; two brothers, Frank and Paul Cooley; a sister, Betty Cutler; son in law, Mike Furey; granddaughter, Christina; and great-grandson, Brady.
The family will receive friends from 10 am until noon on Saturday, Dec. 22, 2018 at the Eickhoff Farrand Halverson Chapel in Three Rivers. Funeral services will begin at 12 noon Saturday at the funeral home with her son, Pastor Steve Oswald officiating. Burial will be in Peek Cemetery. Memorial donations will be directed to the family.
