Lee Montbriand, 84

Leroy Joseph “Lee” Montbriand, age 84, of Sturgis, passed away Friday, Nov. 23, 2018, at Sturgis Hospital.
Lee was born Feb. 24, 1934, to the late Louis Alfred and Helen (Haas) Montbriand.
Lee is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Dorothy; two step-ons, Thomas (Annette) Moffat of Park Ridge, Ill., and Robert Moffat of Park Forest, Ill.; two daughters, Jean (Scott) Finney of Sleepy Hollow, Ill., and Lynn (John) Dobberteen of Sturgis; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Violet Sella of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.
Lee was preceded in death by his parents; a stepdaughter, Nancy Hansen; a son, Daniel Montbriand; a brother, Alfred Montbriand; and three sisters, Helen Duffy, Margaret Nadai and Rosemary McComb.
Lee served in the U.S. Army from Nov. 2, 1956 to Oct. 31, 1958.
He was an avid golfer and loved to spend time at North Twin Lake in Howe, Ind. He had a wicked sense of humor right up until the end. Suffering through the insidious Parkinson’s disease, he still was able to make others smile with his wit and dry humor, often poking fun at the effects of the disease.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A gathering to celebrate Lee’s life will be held this summer at the Dome on the river.
Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis, is entrusted with arrangements.
The family suggests those wishing to make a memorial donation in Lee’s memory consider Parkinson’s Research Foundation, 5969 Cattleridge Blvd., Suite 100 Sarasota, FL 34232.
