Three Rivers notifies Constantine of ordinance non-compliance

Constantine Village Manager Mark Honeysett said municipal officials recently received a notice indicating the village is not in compliance with the Three Rivers Sewer-Use Ordinance.

Cited violations include failure by the village to adopt an ordinance that complies with the city’s sewer-use ordinance, and lack of an inter-jurisdictional agreement between the municipalities with regard to sewer treatment.

Three Rivers also presented a new, sewer-use permit to discharge certain wastewater from Constantine’s service district to Three Rivers Wastewater Treatment Plant, which carries certain terms, conditions and requirements, Honeysett said.

The council authorized the firm Dickinson Wright to act as counsel to the village and take all actions necessary to respond to the non-domestic user permit and notice of violations and order issued by the city of Three Rivers, including but not limited to filing appeals with the city and institution court action, to be determined by Dickinson Wright.
