No court date set for murder suspect

The last of three co-defendants in the November murder of Kevin Johnson in Flowerfield Township was bound over to circuit court last week.

District Court Judge Jeff Middleton issued a decision Friday following nearly two days of testimony at a preliminary hearing.

Theron Hunt of Dowagiac was bound over on two counts of armed robbery, one count open murder, one count of false imprisonment, one count second-degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Co-defendants Kayla Chaney, 24, and 20-year-old Tyler McNeil waved their preliminary hearings Dec. 4.

A failed drug deal led to the shooting death of Johnson, a truck driver from Kentucky, and the armed robbery of Stanielle King at her home on South Street in Flowerfield in the early morning hours of Nov. 15.

No circuit court dates have been set.
