Sturgis Area Community Foundation awards several grants

The Sturgis Area Community Foundation recently completed its 2018 competitive grant program with the issuance of nearly $60,000 returned to the community.

Domestic and Sexual Abuse Services received $2,000 to assist with the “Domestic Violence in the Workplace” project. Meanwhile, Sturgis Historical Society and its “Windows to our Past” films project, was given $24,900.

The St. Joseph County Intermediate School District was provided $6,000 toward the “Child Development Associate Session” program. In addition, Operation 6:12 of Sturgis was given more than $9,400 in support of the Operation 6:12 Women & Children Rehab program.

The foundation earmarked $2,500 to Youth for Christ Inc. of Southwest Michigan toward its building-improvement lighting project. Children’s Trauma Assessment Group of St. Joseph County received $12,000 to assist with the Building Trauma Informed Schools project.

Finally, Girls on the Run Southwest Michigan received nearly $2,700 in support of the 2019 Sturgis Scholarship Initiative.
