Three matters related to tower-space lease were approved Tuesday by the St. Joseph County Board of Commissioners.
County officials first agreed to a five-year contract renewal with White Pigeon Township. The township uses tower space on county-owned communication equipment at the township hall/fire station in what is considered a mutually beneficial agreement.
Next, the county OK’d an amendment to its agreement with the city of Sturgis regarding the municipality’s water tower at 400 N. Franks Ave.
Finally, the county made a few minor changes to the language of an agreement regarding the construction of a communications tower on property owned by the St. Joseph County Sportsman’s Club in Sherman Township.
The county in December approved plans for construction of the new tower.
The language change had nothing to do with terms of the lease or finances, but the county is going to pay the club $999 a year for the duration of the 20-year agreement in exchange for use of the club’s property.
