St. Joseph County didn’t have to look far to find a new finance director.
Angie Steinman, currently Cass County’s finance director and acting administrator, has been hired to replace Ryan Post, who resigned in December to take a position in Van Buren County.
A Dowagiac resident and native, the 42-year-old Steinman will take over on Feb. 25.
Steinman’s work history includes assistant finance director for the city of Dowagiac and later an auditor for Plante Moran in Benton Harbor.
A mother of two daughters and grandmother of two granddaughters, Steinman will start at $84,000 a year. Her current salary is $85,522 annually.
County administrator Teresa Doehring said Steinman is a master user of the county’s software system, she understands the county’s budget process and knows how to navigate the steps and processes of county government.
