Harvey Lambright, 87

Harvey C. Lambright, age 87, of Howe, died on Sunday, Feb. 17, 2019, at Parkview Noble Hospital in Kendallville.
Mr. Lambright was born Sept. 23, 1931, in LaGrange County, Ind., to Charles William and Elizabeth (Eash) Lambright.
On Oct.14, 1956, he married Patricia “Pat” M. Lewis in Brighton, Ind. Mrs. Lambright preceded him in death Nov. 29, 2015.
Mr. Lambright served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 until his discharge in 1955.
After returning from the Navy, he began his career as an auctioneer after graduating from Reppert School of Auctioneering in Decatur, Ind. At this time, he formed a partnership with his father-in-law and Lewis and Lambright Auction and Real Estate firm began. In 1972, he and his wife formed the corporation of Lewis and Lambright Inc. Auctioneers and Realtors and held designations of GRI, CAI, CREA, SCAP, AARE and M-CES. Each Wednesday for the past 64 years, Harvey had worked at the Shipshewana Antique Auctions.
A member of several organizations, he served as president of Indiana Auctioneers Association in 1970, National Auctioneers Association in 1979 and Northeastern Indiana Board of Realtors in 1972. He was on the Indiana Auctioneer Commission for 16 years, serving as chairman for three of those years. He was honored in 1970 by the Northeastern Indiana Board of Realtors as the Realtor of the Year, inducted in 1982 into the Indiana Auctioneers Association Hall of Fame and in 1984 into the National Auctioneers Association Hall of Fame. Among his other accomplishments, he was awarded Sagamore of the Wabash in May 1975 and was LaGrange County Republican Chairman for more than 20 years. Harvey was a longtime member of Brighton Chapel in rural Howe, Ind., LaGrange American Legion Post #215 and a former member of Knights of Pythias.
Surviving are three daughters and two sons-in-law, Debra Lambright and her fiancé, Meredith Cameron of LaGrange, Ind., Denise and Carl Scott of LaGrange and Dodie and J.R. Hart of Shipshewana, Ind.; a step-grandson and his wife, Brodee and Sarah Hart of Elkhart, Ind.; a step-great-grandson, Noah Lee Hart; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Wilma and Raymond Yoder of Millersburg, Ind., Amanda Eash of Bloomfield, Iowa, and Katie and Joe Shinn of Shipshewana; and a brother, Freeman Lambright of Dandridge, Tenn.
Along with his wife and his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandsons, Corey Whitcomb and Chase Scott; a sister, Mary Miller; and a brother, Enos Lambright.
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 22, 2019, at Brighton Chapel, 5415 N SR3, Howe, Ind. The Rev. Rustin Krapfl will officiate the services. Burial will follow at Brighton Cemetery in rural Howe. Pallbearers will be Brodee Hart, Scott Gochenaur, Kevin Lambright, Johnny Wainwright, Harlan Kauffman and Nelson Miller, and honorary pallbearer will be Jack Oakley. LaGrange American Legion will provide military graveside services.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, 2019, at Frurip-May Funeral Home, 309 W. Michigan St., LaGrange, Ind.
Memorials may be made to LaGrange County Community Foundation for the Chase Scott Memorial Fund.
