The St. Joseph County Board of Commissioners last week accepted a land donation from a Fawn River Township man.
Parks and Recreation director Jaymes MacDonald said Andrew Feyes offered a small piece of land for the purpose of a kayak and canoe launch at the Fawn River. The property is on Kime Road in the southeast corner of the county.
MacDonald said parks and recreation created a launch at the site several years ago and in warmer months is part of the department’s weekly maintenance routine.
In essence, MacDonald said, the county’s acceptance of the launch property is more of a formality but the gesture and support from Feyes is appreciated.
