Cass County store robbed

A Cass County liquor store was robbed Tuesday.

Sheriff Richard Behnke said deputies were alerted around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday that a robbery had just occurred at the Sunrise Liquor store in the 1000 Block of Huntly Road located in Howard Township.

Deputies spoke to the employee working at the time of the incident. The employee indicated three subjects, with their faces covered, entered the store and began physically assaulting him then forced him to open the cash drawer.

The employee described the suspects as one medium-build black male and two medium-build black females. The subjects then left the store in an unknown direction.

Investigators said the employee was treated for his injuries by Howard Township First Responders before he was transported to Niles Lakeland Hospital.

Cass County’s K-9 unit located evidence pertaining to the incident but the subjects were not located.
