Drug arrests south of Three Rivers

Three people were arrested on drug-related offenses last weekend following a traffic stop in Lockport Township.

The St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department said deputies in the early morning hours Sunday attempted to stop a vehicle for an improper-plate violation. It was eventually stopped on Lutz Road, near Hoshel Road.

Upon making contact with the occupants, deputies suspected narcotics played a role in the driver acting in an elusive manner.

K-9 Jake with the Three Rivers Police Department was deployed and reacted positively to the presence of narcotics.

During a search of the vehicle and its occupants, officers located narcotics and weapons. Some of the narcotics were believed to contain Fentanyl, a dangerous, synthetic narcotic, according to deputies.

Two Indiana males, ages 35 and 36, were arrested along with a female, on narcotics- and weapons-related charges, authorities said.
