Glenna Bennett, 86

Glenna Jean Bennett (Reber) was called to her heavenly home on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 following a sudden illness.  Her devotion to family and love for Three Rivers and Fishers Lake communities brought much joy to her life on this Earth.  Glenna was 86 years old.

She was born to Russell Coleman Wince and Sarah Elizabeth Wince (Haught) on September 20, 1932 in Beatrice, West Virginia.  She had three siblings:  Lorene Reber (Wince), Richard Wince, and Kathleen Wince.

Glenna was blessed with a large family, raising five children at Fishers Lake, Three Rivers, with Robert Reber.  She is survived by Barry Reber (Deb Truckey), Lawton; Terry Reber, Three Rivers; Kirby Reber (Sally), Vicksburg; Kelly Reber (Cynthia), Twentynine Palms, California; and Robbyn Candelaria (Reber), Lawton.  Robert passed away in 1972.

She married Raymond Bennett of Kalamazoo on June 5, 1981.  She is survived by Kellee Pierce (Jackson), Kalamazoo; and Denise Town (Tim), Buckeye, Arizona.  Ray passed away in 2001, and son John Bennett (Cara) of Kalamazoo in 2018.

Glenna avidly supported her children in sports at Three Rivers High School and was in the stands cheering at every game, home or away.  She continued that support in person with her grandchildren, then in later years enjoyed listening to games on the radio.  Whether it was through sports, police and military service, births of grandchildren, or life’s trials, Glenna was a compassionate listener, supporter, and confidant to her family.

Her empathy and desire to help others extended into the community, and she was a school secretary for many years.  She served for several administrators and guidance counselors at Three Rivers Community Schools, and then retired from Parchment High School in 1983.

A service and funeral mass will be held at noon on Saturday, May 4, at St. Edward Parish, 332 West State Street, Mendon MI 49072, with luncheon to follow.

The family gratefully declines flowers and donations, but prayers are deeply appreciated.
