Local woman wins $1 million lottery prize

“Twenty-six” is the lucky number for a St. Joseph County woman, who recently won the $1 million top prize in a Michigan Lottery scratch-off game.

The woman, who chose to not be identified, purchased the $20 ticket at Harding’s Market on West Michigan Avenue in Three Rivers.

She won playing the game Millionaire Maker.

The woman matched the number 26 from a field of 20 numbers that won if they corresponded to any of five winning numbers.

The 37-year-old woman said she scratched the ticket before she left the store and, after recovering from the initial shock, immediately called her husband.

She opted for the lump-sum payment, which amounted to $634,000 after taxes. She told lottery officials she plans to buy a new house.
