The man accused of ramming a St. Joseph County Sheriff ’s vehicle, dragging a deputy and leading a high-speed pursuit has been released from jail.
Aaron Schrock, 24, of Shipshewana, was released Saturday from the St. Joseph County jail after posting $100,000 bond.
Schrock was booked Feb. 3 on charges of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, one count of assault with intent to murder, fleeing and eluding a police officer, resisting and obstructing a police officer and malicious destruction of police property.
The incident started after a deputy and a Constantine police officer were doing a friend-of-the-court warrant check in the 1200 block of South Washington Street in Constantine.
After being stopped by police at the entrance to the mobile home park, Schrock rammed a sheriff ’s department vehicle. The deputy broke out a window to Schrock’s vehicle and reached into the vehicle in an attempt to stop Schrock. The deputy was dragged after reaching in the vehicle.
Schrock then led police on a high-speed pursuit through White Pigeon, Sturgis and Howe, where police used a precision immobilization to end the chase.
