Assault charges for man in Constantine incident

A 31- year-old Dearborn Heights man is in the St. Joseph County jail on several assault charges.

Robert Brueck faces charges of attempted murder, home invasion, possessing body armor and several other weapons offenses, according to authorities.

Investigators said Central Dispatch responded around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday to a home in the 62000 block of Youngs Prairie Road in Constantine Township to investigate a home invasion.

Deputies said Brueck had forced his way into the home, and used an ax and a knife to assault its residents. Residents fought off Brueck with baseball bats and held him at bay until officers arrived.

Two men were injured and taken to Borgess Medical Center for treatment of serious wounds. Brueck also was taken to Borgess.
