Jacob Scott Saylor, age 12, of Leonidas, died Sunday, May 12, 2019 from injuries received in a four-wheeler accident at the family home. He was born in Sturgis on June 5, 2006 the son of Jeffrey and Jamie (Brittingham) Saylor. Jacob has lived in Texas and Minnesota, and returned to Leonidas earlier this year. He is a seventh-grader at Mendon Middle School. Jacob loved hanging out with his brother and friends. He enjoyed video games and making videos. He liked being on the farm, driving his Dad’s old truck, and working on his go-cart.
Jacob is survived by his mother, Jamie (Brian) Johnson of Litchfield, MN; his father, Jeff Saylor of Leonidas; brother, Marshall Saylor and sister, Madysyn Saylor; step sister, Madelyn Johnson; paternal grandparents, Dawn DeHoff and Lloyd Saylor; paternal great-grandmother, Ollie Mae Caldwell; maternal grandmother, Christine Saxman; maternal great-grandparents, Kathleen Sove, Judith Darmofal, and Albert Saxman; many cousins, aunts, and uncles; and by his favorite dogs, Buddy and Zala.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm Friday at the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon. Funeral services will be at 2 pm Saturday, May 18, 2019 at the Mendon United Methodist Church. Cremation will follow services and a private interment will take place later. Memorial donations will be directed to the family.
