James A. Cadman, age 56, of Goshen, passed away Friday morning, May 10, 2019, at the Cadman family home in Burr Oak.
He was born Jan. 4, 1963, in Three Rivers, a son of the late William L. and Genevieve Catherine (Blaskie) Cadman.
Jim resided in Goshen for the past 35 years. His early life was spent in Burr Oak, where he was a graduate of Burr Oak High School with the class of 1981. While in high school, he excelled in athletics, especially baseball.
He had been employed several years by Pletcher Motor Company in Goshen and owned and operated C&F Race and Machine Shop, also in Goshen.
Jim had a love and passion for all forms of motor racing. He was very proud of the drag car he and his brother, Bill, built and raced together. He was an avid reader and loved cats.
He is survived by a daughter, Julie (Keith) Hankins of Elkhart; three grandchildren, Madison, Josiah and Olivia Hankins, all at home; a brother, William Robert (Debbie) Cadman of Fenton; two nephews, Max Cadman and Gregory Cadman; and longtime companion Laura Fields of Goshen.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis. Funeral services celebrating the life of James A. Cadman will begin at 10 am. Saturday at the funeral home. The Rev. Michael Filliman of Grace Community Church in Goshen will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis.
