Two-county pursuit — Man arrested

Cass County sheriff’s officials arrested a man early Friday following a two-county pursuit.

Sheriff Richard Behnke said deputies attempted to stop the suspect, who was driving a stolen vehicle. The vehicle eventually crashed on M-40, south of Hoffman Street in an area of Jones.

The suspect fled on foot and was able to elude deputies and a K-9 officer. A few hours later, however, a local resident called 911 after finding an unknown person in a building on his property, authorities said.

A second search began and this time the suspect was apprehended after he was found hiding in a vehicle on another property.

He was charged with fleeing and eluding, breaking and entering, and obstructing justice.

The suspect’s name is being withheld pending arraignment.
