Choir from Uganda will perform several local shows

Twenty-one members of Muwendo Children’s Choir, residents of Kampala, Uganda, will perform several shows in the area during the next two months.

After staging its first show last week at Grace Christian Fellowship in Sturgis, the choir is scheduled to perform at Sturgis Fest, White Pigeon Days, the St. Joseph County Grange Fair, Kline’s Resort as well as area churches.

Local residents Ross and Jennifer Gerber of Grace Christian Fellowship have played a key role in organizing the group’s stay and performances in St. Joseph County. Their goal is to bring awareness of need for child sponsorships and raise money to build a Child Development Center at the school for a kindergarten, library and office space at their school back home.

The group is comprised of 15 children and six adult chaperons.
