Man arrested after fleeing police

A Sturgis man was arrested after he attempted to flee from police last weekend in Sturgis.

Officers said the incident started shortly after 8 p.m. Saturday, when they observed a motorcycle traveling at a high rate of speed in the 700 block of East Lafayette Street.

A traffic stop on the motorcycle was attempted but the driver fled. Officers pursued the motorcycle to the 200 block of McKee Street, where the driver, a 45-year-old man, was taken into custody.

He faces multiple charges that include fleeing and eluding, resisting and obstructing, possession of an altered vehicle plate, operating without insurance and operating without a cycle endorsement, authorities said.
