Man arrested after fleeing police

A 31-year-old Berrien Springs man was arrested Friday after fleeing from police, authorities said.

Around 4:30 p.m., White Pigeon officer Matt Hanson attempted to stop a motorcycle near U.S. 12 and South Elkhart Street for a traffic violation. However, the driver fled and attempted to elude as he continued on Stears and Dickenson roads, then onto a railroad bed near Stears Road.

His motorcycle became caught in a fence but he continued to flee, authorities said.

A White Pigeon K-9 officer tracked the man for about a half-mile, then found him hiding in tall grass.
