An Illinois man is in critical condition after he nearly drowned around 4:30 p.m. Saturday in Cass County’s Penn Township.
Sheriff Richard Benhke said 50-year-old Parish Swanson was standing on a dock outside a residence in the 17000 block of Donnell Lake Road, where he was playing with his sons. Swanson was pushed into the lake but did not resurface. After a brief time underwater, Swanson was brought to shore by his sons.
CPR was initiated before he was taken to Elkhart General Hospital.
