Centreville considers traffic change

Members of the Centreville Village Council are considering changing the alley behind downtown buildings to one-way traffic.

Trustee Gary McClain said he wants to see a one-way street, west to east, between Dean Street – near the Department of Public Works garage – and Nottawa Street.

Village President Keith Shears said he has been told the police department prefers the alley as one-way from as far west as Jane Street. Shears wants more input from police officers before taking action.

It was suggested the shorter segment be changed immediately and the longer-segment route be discussed further, but trustee Barb Parker encouraged the council to wait and handle the matter all at once.
