Three Rivers Eagles #2303 is stepping up to get St. Joseph County students into new shoes.
The club will be staging a benefit dinner, with the theme: “Stepping into School Next Year with New Shoes.”
The fundraiser starts at 1 p.m. Aug. 3 at 715 E. Hoffman St. in Three Rivers.
There will be a pulled-pork dinner, sandwiches, raffles and auctions with money going toward the purchase of new shoes for children in St. Joseph County.
The Eagles lodge works with Department of Health and Human Services and schools to compile a list of families who cannot afford shoes for their children to go to school in. Last year, its members helped 422 children. The goal this year is 500.
Anyone interested in helping can send checks payable to Three Rivers Eagles Club #2303 for the shoe program. Organizers would like to receive donations by Aug. 3, so they can make arrangements with a local retail store to distribute shoes the final weekend in August.
