A Mendon man was killed in a single-vehicle accident on Centreville-Constantine Road early Friday morning. The St. Joseph County sheriff’s department said the incident happened near Burgener Road in Florence Township.
John Boyle, 36, of Mendon, was traveling southwest in Florence Township when the vehicle crossed the center line, left the roadway and struck two trees head-on. The vehicle flipped and landed on the passenger side after impact with the trees.
Boyle was pronounced dead at the scene by authorities.
Additionally, a passenger, Audra Sweet-Paffhausen, 33, of Three Rivers, was airlifted to Bronson Methodist Hospital following the accident with serious injuries. The crash remains under investigation.
