Pursuit leads to two arrests

Two Sturgis residents, both wanted on a number of felony warrants, were arrested following a brief pursuit by police last week in Three Rivers.

The incident started at an undisclosed time Saturday near the intersection of U.S. 131 and Broadway Road, where officers learned of a possibly-stolen vehicle parked at an area hotel.

A man and a woman, both 24 years of age, were seen leaving the property inside the vehicle in question. The driver failed to stop for police and eventually drove north on 131 and east on Hoffman Street before ending on Sixth Avenue after the driver was unable to negotiate a sharp curve in the roadway.

The car came to rest against a group of trees. The male driver fled the scene on foot but was apprehended a short distance away. The female was arrested at the scene of the crash.

Officers seized a large volume of suspected stolen property along with other suspicious items.

The male was charged with offenses related to theft, possession of drugs and resisting police. The female faces a number of pending charges, officers said.
