Skeletal remains found in Sturgis

Possible human skeletal remains were discovered Tuesday in Sturgis Township.

Sturgis Department of Public Safety Director Geoff Smith said his department was contacted around 11 a.m. regarding the discovery in an area of South Nottawa Street and Bogen Road.

Smith said the area has been secured and an investigation is underway.

Helping out with the investigation are representatives from Michigan State Police Crime Lab and Western Michigan University Anthropology Unit.
