Softball tournament fundraiser cancelled

Due to not having enough teams register for the “Knock it Out of the Park” softball tournament, the fundraiser for the St. Joseph County Council for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect has been canceled for 2019.

Organizers said the revised tournament date of Sept. 7 was in conflict with another event and, as a result, the tournament has been put on hold until 2020, according to executive director Courtney Hyche.

She remains optimistic that the agency will be able to host the tournament in the spring with a minimum of eight teams committing to the tournament.

Cost is $200 per team and the round-robin tournament will require that all participants be 18 years of age or older.

In addition, volunteer umpires will be sought.

For more information or to register for next year’s event, Hyche can be reached at 269-888-3510.
